The compound on Newport Beach’s Troon Drive has everything a baronial lord would want:

A 12,000-square-foot house, complete with library, wine room, and theater; two guest house; and multiple garages, not to mention staff quarters and an office. And if you act today, you can buy this pleasure palace for almost $10 million off. That’s a third off the original asking price of $29 million. That’s just one the bargains to be had right now in Orange County’s mega-mansion market.

For anyone, it’s a miserable time to be a home seller in Orange County, with price reductions a commonplace affair.

But when it comes to home selling, nobody cuts prices like the rich.

According to Redfin, the average price reduction on all O.C. homes is 7.3%, or about $33,000.

But for the upper, upper crust – homes selling for $10 million or more – price chops are running close to 19% off, with an average decrease of $4.6 million. Of the 55 homes now selling for $10 million and above in O.C., 22 have shaved their asking prices anywhere from a half million bucks to $20 million, according to Redfin and local real estate agents.
